About Michael Charles
In 1984, a young Melbourne muso with newfound confidence stepped out under his own name. Michael Charles began writing, recording, releasing and promoting his music while touring across Australia.
A turning point came in 1989, when he was invited to appear at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago, USA. Not long after, he decided to make America his home.
As of 2026, his USA career includes:
- A catalogue of 43 releases
- Induction into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame
- Ten times Grammy‑elected
- Ongoing recognition as one of America’s most driven artists, annually touring across the USA, Canada and Australia
At every stop he delivers an unprecedented concert of original, guitar‑driven contemporary blues, blues‑based rock and ballads.
A special Bruthen performance
Celebrating his 42nd anniversary in 2026, Michael Charles returns to the country where it all began and graces the stage at Bruthen Mechanics Hall.
We invite you to share the experience as he conjures up the memories, the love and the gratitude—for Australia, and for the people who were there at the start of the journey.
Don’t miss this rare chance to see Michael Charles live in Bruthen.
